Libby Casey

Libby Casey is the Washington, D.C., correspondent for the Alaska Public Radio Network. She is also a regular guest host of C-SPAN’s national show,Washington Journal.

Her stories have appeared on All Things Considered, Morning Edition, The World, the CBC, and in the Anchorage Daily News and the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. In 2007, Casey won three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, and the Alaska Press Club's Public Service Award for "Remembering the Fallen," profiles of soldiers killed in Iraq.

Through a fellowship in 2007 with the International Reporting Project, she reported on renewable energy issues from Iceland. Casey is a 2009-2010 recipient of the National Press Foundation’s Paul Miller Reporting Fellowship, which trains journalists who report on the federal government and the nation’s capital. Since moving to Washington, she’s appeared as a guest to discuss Alaska politics on The Today Show, CNN, MSNBC and Fox News.

Casey moved to Washington in 2008 after spending more than a decade in Fairbanks,where she worked at public radio station KUAC and taught radio production at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. During her time at KUAC, Casey covered the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race and the Iditarod. Her tales from the trail won a national Silver Reel from the National Federation of Community Broadcasters and numerous sports reporting awards from the Alaska Press Club.

She is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and studied in India.
